How to Wash Faux Locs

Faux locs are one of the most trendiest styles in the world of Natural hair! The most beautiful thing about Faux locs is that they are a style that really brings out the natural beauty in those who wear them. However they have a few not so good things about them, in this post I will give you advice achieving this beautiful style and keep your hair growing.

The 1st not so great thing about Faux locs is the potential damage. Faux locs can be damaging to the hair and scalp if they are installed to tightly, too much tension can cause the hair to be literally ripped out especially along the hair line. When installing hair should be wrapped around the beginning of the twist or braid, to allow them to be easily movable.  After installation your  scalp should be oiled with a light such as Olive oil. If you are looking to grow your hair faster while you protective style I suggest the Beauty of Rashida's Scalp Energizing Oil. This will help reduce the tension of your locs and it will help your natural hair growth faster! Being that Faux locs are a very forgiving protective style, using this oil would be great opportunity to maximize your hair growth. In addition to using oils steamy showers can be also used to reduce tension, stiffness and to get the natural flowing movement of your locs started.  I also advise waiting a week or two week before pulling them up in a bun that we all love.

Another down side is the potential lack of moisture. Your natural hair is wrapped in  Marley hair. Although Marley hair mimics the look of natural hair and is light weight, however it is coarse and  can literally be like a sponge that sucks up the moisture out of already dry hair. I always like to liked our Hair to the grass if you don't water it, it will grow, however the condition will be very dry and lifeless. It's the same thing with our hair.  Our hair will grow by protective styling it however the condition will depend on how we care for it.

Therefore it is imperative to keep your locs moisturized. I strongly recommend The Beauty of Rashida Protective Style Hydrator, thebeautyofrashida.com this spray will penetrate throw your locs and leave your hair with the right moisture and proteins that your hair needs on a daily basis. Using this spray will enable you to retain healthy hair length so you will avoid the feeling of always having to big chop during trims. Not only will it hydrate your natural hair it will reduce unsightly frizz give your locs and natural shine as it begins to age and keep them looking and smelling good...

3 Great Tips on How to Keep Your Havana Twist or Marley Twist Looking Great!

Havana Twist are a great Winter Protective Style. Not only do they blend nicely with your natural hair, but the thickness of the hair provides a great layer of warmth in the cold Winter months. Even though they sort of seem like a care free style, however you have to put in the work if you want to keep them looking good and if you want to see growth results and minimum breakage.

  1. It is very important that you keep your extension hair moist. Whether you use the actual Havana hair or the Marley hair both types of hair can become very dry and frizzy. To keep them with a radiant natural luster apply Castor oil. Castor oil works like a hair serum, its thickness perfectly absorbs itself into extension making to become shiny and it removes frizz. Not only does it absorb into the extension hair it moisturizes and nourishes your natural hair helping it to further blend into the extension hair.
  2. Keep your scalp oiled. Nourish your scalp with Castor Oil or any essential oil such as Peppermint or Rosemary oil helps to strength your scalp and it also assists with stimulating your scalp to promote hair growth.
  3. Do not tie your head down with a scarf. Tying your hair down with a scarf reduces the puffiness of the twist, which is the core look of the Havana Twist. Using a satin bonnet if they can fit instead.
